Happy Birthday Yellowstone!

You were born in 1872 and I must say, 150 years looks good on you! Even with the historic flooding a few weeks ago, you look amazing. And maybe the break from visitors for a short time was just what you needed…

So “share the road” takes on a whole new meaning at Yellowstone. At home, it’s bicycles; here it’s bison! We were stuck today behind a bison just following the double yellow lines down the middle of the road. Something you don’t see every day!  And we saw our first (and only) bear  today as well. Also saw elk, mountain goats, eagles, geese, chipmunks, ducks, prairie dogs and a marmot. I must say, the last two+ days in the park have been nothing short of  spectacular. At over 2.2 million acres, the landscapes change around almost every corner. Yellowstone is home to over 500 geysers (more than half of the world’s geysers) which are so out of the ordinary and are cool to see in person. This place is absolutely amazing. Words, nor pictures, come even close to describing this, our nations first national park. It’s for sure something you need to experience first hand. If you’ve been here, you know what I’m talking about. And if you haven’t been, put it on your list!

PS: another shout out to my hubby who never takes issue with turning the car around to go back to see  something. U-turns have led to some of the best sights and several of the pictures posted here. ❤️
