I remember being a kid, wanting to drive a big truck when I grew up. I never did... opted for a desk job instead. But trucks are still so cool to me & I love being around em. It's funny because when my husband & I are driving down the highway and we pass a truck going the other way, both our heads are turning as we check it out and we'll both comment on the nice ones. So when our friends up in OR said they were coming down for a truck show in Plymouth (CA), we figured that would be a perfect excuse for another road trip north! My hubby's a truck driver so he knows a TON about trucks…. WAAAAAAAY more than I ever will of course… but I still just love looking at em and I so appreciate their beauty. And the show didn’t disappoint! Our friend Paul (from OR) has a kick-ass Peterbilt motorhome he brought down that got TONS of attention. But there were so many cool rigs there to check out. And I learned a lot this weekend from the guys I hung out with... some of which I won't repeat in public (HAHA) but the amount of knowledge flying around all weekend was truly impressive. I learned so much about Peterbilts... about the big mouth grilles, flat dashes, the different types of sleepers, Detroit engines, slant noses, long hoods, dual pyros, what a set of sticks is, how they stopped using rivets and went to rubber around the windshields after 1962... It's fun to see and talk to the old school guys where trucking is/was a way of life, not just a paycheck. I sat around outside the motorhome for hours listening to stories about the past, present, and maybe even a little bit about the future. And as for OUR future, I'm hoping there are many more shows to come!
